Whether you are an experienced travel nurse, a “newbie”, or considering travel nursing as a career, this book is for you.
Barry and Donna Padgett have traveled for almost eight years: from Boston to Seattle . . . from Georgia to Alaska. They have
produced this concise, no nonsense book based on their experiences, observations, opinions, and discussions with facilities,
agencies, and other travelers. It is an “insight” into what it takes to be a successful traveler. There’s no fluff here, it's all meat!

Barry and Donna share their knowledge and experience: from deciding if traveling is right for you to all the in’s and out’s
involved. Housing issues, benefits, tax advantage programs, contract clauses and negotiation, bill rates, your compensation
package, licensing, handling tax issues, understanding per diem rates, international traveling, managing your money,
independent contracting, and internet resources are all included.

One of the most difficult tasks in traveling is choosing good agencies. An entire chapter is dedicated to this process and helps
your career get off to a good start. Chapter 11 takes you step by step from leaving your permanent job through your first
assignment and beyond. Special topics such as breaking your contract, working strikes, the future of traveling, and your
recruiter: friend or foe, are also included. The reader will no doubt appreciate, and possibly relate to, many of the topics in
“The Darker Side of Traveling”.

The book also includes 64 pages of full color photos showing some of their adventures along the way. All photos were taken
while on assignment, on side trips, or while traveling to or from assignments. The photos alone will make you want to pack your
bags (and your camera) and hit the road! All in all,
Travel Nurse Insights is destined to become a classic. Featuring quality
hardcover binding and offset printing, it's a must for every traveler’s library.
